WTF Over digs into the history, philosophy, law, economics, theology, and politics behind the headlines. It's not all pie charts and statistics. I like to have a little fun too.
You’re invited to join my journey. It’s aspirational at the moment—more jazz than classical. The formula is still being written. So go ahead and subscribe, like, hate, or do whatever suits your fancy. Actually, I take that back. Subscribe already! I’m really, really needy. Oh please subscribe! Do it! Do it!
The Name
It’s a neat synopsis of how I react to the news these days. WTF Over, or WTFO, is a piece of military jargon I first read at the bottom of a colleague’s email many years ago in a different life. It’s really a question. WTF means what you think it means. The Over is there to imply WTF is spoken over a radio, typically out of bewilderment. It lives alongside other fun military acronyms like FUBAR, which is equally applicable to current affairs.
Generative AI Pledge
WTF Over’s written content is the product of one particular arrangement of carbon. The good and the bad are all a reflection of my abilities or lack thereof. The typos, I own them. Specifically:
I do not use generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to plan, outline, draft, revise, or edit WTF Over content.
I do not use generative AI to analyze documents or form opinions.
I do, however, use AI generated images from time to time. I will also quote a generative AI tool’s analysis when it is germane to a discussion, such as a post about how generative AI works. In these circumstances, the quote/output will always be clearly attributed to a specific AI tool.
Thus, I’m not a Luddite who is afraid of AI, but rather someone who believes self expression should come from within. I have made a conscious choice to forego these tools in the name of authenticity.

Subscribing is free and ensures you receive the latest updates from WTF Over in your email inbox or on the Substack app. Selfishly, the more subscribers WTF Over has, the more the algorithms will promote the site.
